Chapter Update
Brothers, Alumni, and Rush:
After holding our 50th anniversary last year, as well as hosting the Ontario/Quebec provincial workshop, the 46 active brothers of the Epsilon Omicron chapter have entered the 2008-2009 academic year with tremendous enthusiasm.
The EO Sigs were very active during the summer. Through tremendous fundraising efforts, 11 brothers qualified to travel to New Orleans in early May to assist the Katrina relief effort through the Brees Dream Foundation. Despite being on busses to the work site at 5am, the brothers managed to see many sights the city has to offer. Some of the highlights were attending a playoff Hornets game and, how could we forget, Bourbon Street.
As well, five brothers attended the Balfour Leadership Training Workshop at the University of Missouri this summer, where we won the Peterson Significant Chapter Award, as well as the BASH Award for significantly improved chapters.
Rush Chairman Ian Solnick, organized an extremely successful recruitment. With over 150 men through the door during rush, we selected thirteen promising leaders of the future. With their pledge ship well under way their enthusiasm for the fraternity is extremely visible.
The brothers of EO have hosted several philanthropy events so far this semester. We raised a combined total of $1200 for the Terry Fox Foundation, through a charity barbeque on Concrete Beach, as well as our annual Sig Dig beach volley ball tournament.
Members of Epsilon Omicron traveled to the University of Windsor at the beginning of November for the Ontario / Quebec Provincial conference. Our executive now has ambitious plans of introducing four brand new scholarships. As well, an alumni newsletter is under way and should be distributed by the Holidays.
