Fall Rush 2007
Dear Rushee,
I would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations on your decision to attend
Western and welcome. As recruitment chairman for the 2007-08 school year, I encourage
you to drop in the Sigma Chi house this coming semester.
Sigma Chi is one of the oldest active fraternities on campus with over 50 years at the
University of Western Ontario. We pride ourselves on a brotherhood deeply rooted in the
collegiate experience while promoting a lifelong commitment to our core values of
friendship, justice and learning.
Our 217 undergraduate chapters and 145 alumni chapters achieve these ideals through the
practice of character qualities embodied in our 150 year old Ritual. Since our founding in
Miami Ohio in 1855 Sigma Chi's vision has been to become the pre-eminent collegiate
leadership development organization-aligned, focused and living our core values. Our
mission is to develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character,
campus and community, while enjoying the several social aspects university has to offer.
Sigma Chi has a very proud tradition of giving back to our community. Our fraternity has
to date contributed more than $4,000,000 to the Children's Miracle Network. Along with
monetary donations, we also contribute hundreds of community service hours each year
through different service projects. Our chapter here at Western has consistently
contributed to the London – CMN every year, and will continue to participate in the
London community.
Sigma Chi is also dedicated to a safe, and enjoyable fraternity experience. We, as well as
the University of Western as a whole, have a strict no hazing policy. We have absolutely
no tolerance for members of our organization who choose to haze pledges. Not only is it
against our policy as a fraternity, our policy through the university, but it is inconsistent
with our ritual to treat any individual, let alone our brothers-to-be in any disrespectful
way.
For more information about our national fraternity, please visit www.sigmachi.org, or for
more info on our chapter, or feel free to contact myself, Nathan Lucas, at
nlucas3@uwo.ca or on my cell at
705-879-3401. We would be happy to field any
questions and arrange a house visit.
Hope to see you out - Cheers,
Nathan Lucas
